THE south Buckinghamshire branch of the Alzeimer's Society have been given a grant of £589 by Waitrose.

Shoppers at the supermarket are given a green token with every purchase and asked to put it in one of three charity boxes.

Every month the charity with the most tokens wins a grant.

Tim Sloane, chairman of the south Buckinghamshire Branch of the Alzheimer's Society, along with vice-chairman Kari Dorme received the donation from Waitrose in Beaconsfield.

Mrs Dorme said: "This grant will help the Branch to run the Carer Support Group which meets monthly and the new Singing for the Brain session which takes place weekly at the Fitzwilliam Centre in Beaconsfield.

"The Branch is always looking for new volunteers and additional grants to help those who have this dreadful illness."
