JUST when you thought Christmas couldn't get any quirkier, a national pub chain has announced they will be selling cows in quilts this festive season.

Following on from supermarkets selling XL pigs in blankets and Farmhouse Inns combining mince pies with Yorkshire puddings, Hungry Horse has launched the new side to rival more traditional roast dinner accompaniments.

The mini beef burgers wrapped in bacon have been introduced at 286 pubs nationwide to make their Christmas menu stand out from the herd.

Jason Radbourn, food development manager at Hungry Horse, said: “Christmas is almost upon us, and this year we wanted to take the celebrations to a whole new level by turning a Christmas dinner staple on its head.

“Pigs in blankets have long been the star of many Christmas dinners, and we thought it was time we gave the spotlight to a new seasonal side dish, by creating something which pays homage to a true pub classic – the beef burger.

“In Christmas 2017, we gave festive plates up and down the country a seasonal sparkle when we launched the UK’s first glitter gravy, and we’d love this year’s festive food innovation to become a Christmas classic of the future.”
