Professor T will be back for a third series on ITV1 very soon, with Ben Miller returning to play the titular character.

An adaptation of the Belgian TV series of the same name, Professor Jasper Tempest (Miller) is a criminologist at the University of Cambridge with OCD who assists the police in solving crimes.

However, the third series starts in an unfamiliar setting for Professor T, who is in prison after events in series two.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Miller said: "It's just about the worst environment he could possibly find himself in.

"First of all, he's germaphobic, and the whole of the prison is pretty unhygienic. I think he struggles with that. He really doesn't like the food, he finds it really difficult sharing a cell with someone.

"And then, on the flip side, he's surrounded by criminals and he's lived all his life in academia, really, and he's fascinated by criminality. He's a criminology professor, so it's also like being a butterfly collector locked in a butterfly house. It's one of the most fascinating places he could possibly be, so he's really pulled in two directions."

The first episode of the third series of Professor T will air at 9pm on Wednesday, March 27 on ITV1.

After that, the remaining five episodes will air in the same timeslot on Wednesdays.
