This is what you have been writing to us about this week.

On July 31 came the news that the UK military has launched its first joint command centre aimed at protecting the UK’s “interests in space”.

Boris Johnson’s government plans to spend £1.4bn on “space capabilities” over the next 10 years to help the UK maintain a “battle-winning advantage” in what it describes as an “increasingly important domain”.

Space Command is based at RAF High Wycombe.

On August 1, Steve Baker, the hard-right Tory MP for High Wycombe, admitted there are “intolerable” levels of hunger and poverty in High Wycombe, with one in seven households in the town going hungry during lockdown.

High Wycombe may have become the UK’s number one hotspot for hunger and food insecurity but its people can relax in the knowledge that the town’s food banks, on which so many now depend, are being kept safe from space Imperialists by the ever-vigilant government of Boris Johnson.
