This is Booker Football Club’s first eleven lining up for their team photo around the time that allied forces landed in southern France and French and allied troops start the attack on Paris.
The photograph was taken around August 1944. It shows the squad of footballers in their square patterned rugby style kits, with long shorts, sitting in the goal mouth.
Do you know who the men in the overcoats are, standing on either side of the players? Which one is the manager? Do you know any of the team? Maybe your grandfather, dad or uncle played for Booker? Did you see a match that season? What are your memories of the team?
