THE Beacon School are top of the class after a thrilling victory in the Bucks Schools Rugby Cup Final.
In a repeat of last year’s U13s final, the Beacon School made up for last year’s loss against Royal Latin School as they ran out 38-22 winners.
They effectively won the match in the first 15 minutes, when they surged into a 19-point lead thanks to three tries.
However, Royal Latin fought back and capitalised on a couple of Beacon mistakes two score two tries of their own before the interval.
Beacon pulled away again with their fourth try of the match immediately after half time to go 24–10 ahead, and a fifth followed soon afterwards to put them in total control at 31-10.
Yet again Royal Latin came back at them though, scoring a few fine individual tries after some loose kicking from Beacon, but the tension was taken out of the match in the final minutes when Beacon crossed again to put the seal on a comprehensive victory.
However, the U14s final due to be played at Amersham & Chiltern RFC on Tuesday afternoon had to be postponed because of a frozen pitch. The match will be played in the new year.
