WANDERERS boss Gareth Ainsworth is amongst the bookmakers' favourites to replace Graham Westley as Preston North End manager.
The former Stevenage chief stepped down after last night's 3-1 defeat by Yeovil Town left the freefalling Lilywhites just five points clear of the relegation zone.
Ainsworth has hero status at Deepdale after three spells as a player there and the bookies believe he's amongst the frontrunners to replace Westley after transforming Blues' fortunes.
Former Leeds and Huddersfield boss Simon Grayson is odds-on favourite to land the role but the odds on Ainsworth being handed the reins are as short as 4/1 with Bet Victor.
Wanderers chairman Don Woodward told the Bucks Free Press last week the club is in talks with Ainsworth about a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
