WANDERERS boss Paul Lambert has backed Sergio Torres to bounce back from his injury nightmare and make it as a professional footballer.

The Argentinian has managed just four starts this season after picking up what appeared to be an innoccuous knee injury in September.

But he is still not fit enough to train with the rest of the squad and is still not kicking footballs.

It's the second time in as many years that he has been Ko'd by a seemingly minor injury. Last season he injured his ankle against Oxford in February. He was expected to be out for two weeks but never played again that season.

Lambert said: "It is taking its time for no reason. He has had two seemingly innocuous injuries now which have kept him out for a long time. He is having problems on the outside of his knee which is causing some concern.

"I never thought it was a major issue but obviously it is.

"But I am sure he will come through and make it as a footballer.

"Injuries are part and parcel of the game, some people are lucky with them and others aren't. "There isn't a physiological problem with him and we are hoping he will be back sooner rather than later."
