MARLOW HC went one better than their Bucks neighbours and closest rivals by putting six past Purley Walcountians on Saturday.

Not only that, but Purely were second in the table at push off.

However, Marlow were rampant at Pound Lane with a 6-2 salvo to move them up to third in the table and ignite their season.

Dave Harding put them in front with a stunning individual goal and Matt Ashton then made it 2-0 before they were reduced to nine men before half time.

But back to full strength, they regained their dominance after the interval with Ed Davidson making it 3-0.

They weren’t finished yet though.

After giving Purley some hope with an own goal, Davidson made it 4-1 before Man of the Match Harry Ratcliffe and Dave Guy completed the rout.

Marlow 2s were nearly as convincing against Eastcote 2s, winning 4-0.

Sam North opened the scoring from a penalty stroke after Aman Sood’s hit a foot on the line from a penalty corner, and Man of the Match Sam Cole set up Kevin Chappell for their second after the interval.

Chappell got a second moments later before the win was sealed with ten minutes to go, when Oscar Ancliffe scored.

Marlow 5s backed them up with a 2-1 win over Thame 2, with an own goal and Brain Gray effort taking them top of the table.

Meanwhile, Marlow Ladies 3s were too good for Henley Ladies 3s, winning 3-1.

Marlow actually went behind in the match, before Helen North turned a good spell of pressure into their equaliser before half time.

Marlow then took hold of the game in the second period, with Sarah Briggs and Anna Mortimer both on target.

Elsewhre, Marlow Ladies 4s trounced Wallingford Ladies 4s 6-0 with Anna Dicker scoring a hat-trick in the victory.

Anya Swales, Hannah Webber and Ella Tidy also netted, while Marlow Ladies 5s were held to a 0-0 stalemate at Henley Ladies 4s.
