PRINCES Risborough RFC failed to back up a win against the BB&O Championship leaders Abingdon with another victory over third-placed Aldermaston on Saturday.
They were 24-17 and chairman Andy Emmett says if that spells another season in the division then so be it.
He said: “We’re about ten points away now so never say never.
“We might still be able to push for second but winning the title might be a bit optimistic now.
“But we’re happy with where we are and if it’s another year of rebuilding before another big push then so be it.”
Risborough’s defeat on Saturday came despite a powerful performance up front.
Emmett said: “They’re a very well-drilled, very quick, very young side. We had a good tussle with them.
“We were a few players down, but went into it quite strong and started very well.
“They ran the ball very well along their backline and we tried to put the pressure on and hit them up front.
“It was different styles but I think they just about edged us.
“It’s a matter of converting your pressure into points and maybe in the first 20 minutes we were guilty of not doing that. That’s what we did the previous weekend against Abingdon.”
