CHESHAM United did themselves a power of good with two wins in a week to move up to 11th in the Southern Premier League.

They beat Frome 3-0 Saturday before backing that up with a 2-1 triumph over Histon on Tuesday.

Alex Brown and Ryan Blake put them 2-0 up inside 15 minutes against Frome, with Dave Pearce adding a third in the second half, before Simon Thomas scored a 90th minute winner against Histon.

Inih Effiong had put them in front after three minutes, but Histon had levelled in the 16th minute and then frustrated their hosts for most of the match.

Manager Andy Leese said: “Six points is what we targeted and that’s what we got.

“We made light work of it on Saturday and hard work of it on Tuesday, but we really stuck at it and it was a good week.

“It’s still a tough month, we’ve got a long way to go and we have to make sure it’s a good month.”

Chesham’s next match is a Red Insure Cup game against Aylesbury on Tuesday.
