Beaconsfield SYCOB remain in a relegation scrap after coming out on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller against Egham Town.

Andy Hurley’s team took the lead and then battled back from a two goal deficit before eventually going down 4-3 on Saturday.

A thumping header after 19 minutes from Alex Murray had put the visitors ahead, but they failed to capitalise on a dominate first half and having led 1-0 with 44 minutes on the clock, found themselves 3-1 down six minutes into the second half.

But, far be it from a side placed 20th in Division One Central, SYCOB refused to lie down and dragged themselves back into the game when Ashley Keplynack’s cross found its way into the net after 61 minutes.

And with ten minutes left Beaconsfield seemed to have snatched an unlikely share of the spoils when Murray pounced in the box to turn the ball home following a corner for his second of the match.

Egham weren’t to be denied, however, and they broke the visitors’ brave resistance after 85 minutes when Reis Stanislaus got on the end of a cross to smash the ball home.

Beaconsfield will look to arrest their slide on Saturday when they take on high-flying Chalfont St Peter at home.
