Tyrrell Hatton secured his fourth best finish of the European Tour season when he ended the Open de France tied for 12th position.

Only a pair of bogeys on the closing two holes of his final round on Sunday denied the Marlow man from finishing in the top ten as he ended the tournament on two-under par.

The 23-year-old was some way short of winner Bernd Wiesberger, finishing 11 shots behind the tournament champion, but he will have been heartened by his display at Le Golf National on the outskirts of Paris.

Day one of the tournament saw the Harleyford Golf Club member shoot a level par 71 after carding two birdies and a pair of bogeys.

Friday bought the best 18 holes of golf out of Hatton as he shot five birdies en route to finishing round two at three-under par.

Round three began in similar vein with the world number 119 picking up three more birdies on the first nine holes to take himself to six-under for the tournament.

Another shot was picked up at the 14th before two dropped shots in the final four holes dropped him back to two-under for the day.

In the first three rounds Hatton had only bogeyed on one occasion in the first nine holes but he quadrupled that tally in the final round.

Further dropped shots on 17 and 18 left him three-over for the day, meaning that Hatton secured a share of 12th place with Victor Dubuisson and Kristoffer Broberg.
