Phoenix Club bounced back from a damaging defeat in the Wycombe & Amersham Darts League Division One against title rivals Penn & Tylers Green SC last week.
They were made to work for the result though as a rejuvenated Hazlemere CC put in a battling performance in Phoenix’s 9-5 win.
Brian Witney was one of the top performers as he hit his sixth maximum of the campaign. Witney now tops the leader board for most 180s this season.
The result rounded off a good week for Phoenix which also saw them win the Jim Cowley Cup on Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over local rivals Holmer Green Legion A.
Holmer responded well to the disappointment of missing out on cup glory with a 10-4 win against Cressex CC E which cemented their position in fourth in the league. Title favourites Penn tightened their hold on top spot as they beat Riverside, who came into the match in second place, by a score of 9-5.
Penn now lead Division One by five points heading into the final week of fixtures.
In Division Two, Winchmore Hill CC recorded an 11-3 victory over Marsh Legion which included a 180 for Kerry Ferguson.
Winchmore’s lead at the top of the division now stands at 10 points after closest challengers, Cressex CC E, overcame a competitive Holmer Green Legion A by a score of 9-5.
Bourne End CC put in one of their better performances of the season to hold Judo Club to a 7-7 draw.
Elsewhere, the final round of fixtures were played out in the Super Singles Darts League at Hazlemere CC.
Rob Brereton’s 18 points was enough to secure him the Division One title as he finished three points ahead of Dan Franzen.
Division Two saw Mick Carlton record a dominant first position with 24 points, while Andy Long and Pat O’Reilly finished joint second.
After both Blaine Jelly and Leigh Ross picked up 19.5 points in Division Three the pair played a nail-biting sudden death match to decide who would take the title.
The one leg encounter was keenly contested, but Ross eventually ran out as the winner.
Marc Dellar has dominated Division Four this season and maintained his 100 per cent record to claim top spot. Simon White finished as runner up.
