A dismal batting display from Kew handed Marlow the easiest of eight-wicket victories in the Thames Valley League Division One on Saturday.
The writing seemed to be on the wall from the outset as Marlow’s new ball partnership put Kew under pressure after electing to bowl first.
Paul Brezezcki 3-33 dominated the opening 11 overs while a superb spell from Harry Spear earned him the man of the match award as he claimed 5-21.
The pair were supported by some excellent fielding which saw many of the Kew batsmen fall to impressive catches.
Jeremy Batty and Mark Dozell both took 1-8 to clean up the tail as only Kamran Younas (18) and Sean Abbott (17) made it into double figures for Kew who were all out for 73.
Kew’s response lacked punch from the get go as Imran Nawaz (27) and Nick Paskins (40 not out) put on 31 to stifle any hopes of a miraculous win.
The departure of Nawaz and Barney Hogg for four meant little as Paskins and Kevin Hudson eased Marlow to a comfortable victory.
The result takes Marlow up to fifth in the table and they have closed the gap to second placed Chesham to 22 points.
An away match at Windsor awaits Marlow on Saturday and they will be confident about getting a positive result against the division’s bottom side.
