It has been a real mixed bag for Wycombe so far this week.

I was there to witness both games and it was a joy to watch the boys go about their business against Crawley last weekend.

The performance was absolutely superb. I thought they were patient in the first half as Crawley went into ultra-defensive mode as Ebere Eze’s goal just after half-time was a moment of absolute brilliance from the young man. He is certainly giving the fans many memories in his short stay so far.

Then followed a wonderful hat-trick by Craig Mackail-Smith. All three finishes were top drawer and I think it is fair to say all four goals could easily have graced a higher level.

With Macca, you can tell how respected he is already in the dressing room and he really deserved his day in the limelight.

He is normally the one who gives defenders nightmares with his selfless running and all-round terrific team play and I am sure no one begrudges him the second matchball of his league career.

What followed was a much tougher game against third placed Accrington Stanley. It took ages to get up the M6 on Tuesday night and the players, staff and fans who made the long journey were treated to a wet and wild night in Lancashire.

I thought the team started very brightly and Macca had a great opportunity to open the scoring but it was just on his wrong foot and the Accrington keeper pushed it away.

Stanley are a strong side and although it was a tight game, they maybe just edged things slightly.

Speaking to Gareth after, he feels that it is definitely an advantage to have played Carlisle, Morecambe and Accrington while the pitches are still fresh.

Both the Accrington and Carlisle games were on a Tuesday evening and I know it is a bit of a lottery when games are played, Wycombe were dealt a rough hand with those trips.

However, a lot of the leading protagonists still have to make those long trips to the north-west and there are no easy games against that trio.
Attention now turns to Yeovil at home tomorrow. They have been excellent at home this season but their away form as seen them concede goals left, right and centre.

As long as Wanderers approach the game like last week, then I believe they can win comfortably.

Complacency will be punished by the likes of Francois Zoko so the Blues need to be on their guard at the back but I am going for a 2-0 win to keep their fine run of form at Adams Park going.
