Beaconsfield’s unbeaten run came to an end as a well organised Thame side, aided by a superb goalkeeping display from Craig Hill, made the most of a slice of fortune to take all three points back up the M40.

The Rams started brightly, Wes Daly putting a cheeky chipped free kick just wide on nine minutes and Jerome Eccleston having a fine run on 13 minutes, his cross going right across the face of the Thame goal.

On 33 minutes Andre Costa saw his shot well saved by Hill and five minutes later Hill made a great save to deny Eccleston by tipping his goal bound header over the bar.

The second period was only a minute old when Dan Brown connected firmly with a header that Hill flew through the air to turn away. Both Costa and Goldy Capela saw efforts whistle just over before, on 65 minutes, Eccleston brought down a Thame forward and a penalty was awarded. Lynton Goss took it, Ravan Constable saved it but Thame’s luck was in and the ball fell kindly for Goss to follow up and stroke into the net.

Though Capela had a half chance go begging on 70 minutes The Rams cause was not helped by the 77th minute dismissal of Alex Cathline for catching a Thame player with his elbow.

The ten men battled to the end, Luke Neville seeing a stoppage time header acrobatically saved by Hill, but an equaliser was not to be found.
