WANDERERS have turned down a £125,000 offer from Swindon Town for striker Jermaine Easter and slammed it as derisory.

Blues' managing director Steve Hayes said: "It was an insult to the player and the club.

"It made me angry. This is a player who was one of the top goalscorers in the division last year, he scored against three Premiership sides in the cup and is now a Welsh international - and they are offering that. It is taking the mickey."

Easter, back from a two-game suspension, opened his account for the season with the 95th-minute penalty that earned Wanderers a 2-2 draw at last season's Conference champions Dagenham and Redbridge Manager Paul Lambert said: "He's started off where he finished last season. He's a massive player for us and I need him more than anybody else."

But having laughed off Swindon's interest, a new danger has appeared on the horizon with Championship side Plymouth Argyle - conquerors of Wanderers in the Carling Cup seven days ago - declaring their interest in Easter.

Easter, who is out of contract in the summer and has so far not put pen to paper on the new contract Wycombe have been trying to offer him since March, said: "Plymouth would defintely interest me. They are in the Championship and I have always said I think I can play in the Championship."
