CHALFONT St Peter and Beaconsfield Sycob are through to the next round of the FA Cup after both won their extra preliminary round clashes at the weekend.

Saints won 3-1 at Buckingham Town while Sycob were 3-2 winners at Bournemouth.

But there was disappointment for three other local clubs on Saturday as they went out despite all having home advantage.

Holmer Green lost 1-0 to Melksham while Flackwell and Thame finished on the wrong end of 2-1 scorelines against Downton and Moneyfields respectively.

Chalfont progressed to earn a home tie with Hamble of the Wessex League on September 1 after a solid win at Buckingham.

They scored after three minutes when Danny Stone took advantage of a goalkeeping mistake.

They doubled their advantage when a Terrell Lewis run ended with him being fouled in the area, and Ben Stack scored his third penalty in successive games.

Buckingham reduced the arrears when Danny Hart was allowed a free header from a corner.

But after Buckingham had Guiseppe Lagioia dismissed for two quick yellow cards, Bradley Bubb restored Saints' two-goal cushion.

Sycob were 3-0 up in their game with an Adamson Ajayi double putting them in the driving seat but they were left hanging on as Bournemouth made a fight of it, literally at times, and scored two late goals.

Becky keeper Nick Hart needed hospital treatment after being laid out in a challenge and Sycob substitute James O'Neill was sent off as the game got out of hand.

Although Thame went out their manager Mark West could take heart from his team's performance against higher league Downton from the Wessex League Premier Division.

United fell behind to a goal from Kevin Thick inside the first 20 minutes but drew level with a Matt Leach strike before the half hour mark.

Thame them had chances to win it before Mike Glavin ended their hopes with just seven minutes left.

United return to league action tonight when Rayners Lane are the visitors.
