Wycombe’s Dylan Ballard, won the Junior Commonwealth Men’s Team Epee silver for Wales recently.
Ballard, 17, of Harefield Academy is coached by Jenny Douglas from Downley, and sponsored by Wilkinson Sword.
The Commonwealth Junior Fencing Championships 2018 were held in Newcastle in July and hosted 16 countries, 85 team entries and 415 team individuals. Ballard and his team knocked out hot favourites England on their way to the final, before losing out to India in the gold medal match.
Ballard, the youngest member of the Welsh team said: “Standing on the podium was amazing with all of the lights and the ceremony going on, I was really proud to represent Wales and am now hoping to get on the GBR team this coming season.”
Dylan has just under three years of national representation under his belt and he is certainly one to watch out for in the coming months.
