Beaconsfield FC continued with their fine form against league favourites Weymouth on Saturday, earning one point from a very respectable 1-1 scoreline.

The game began and was closely contested from the first whistle. Despite some excellent chances, including a close header from Brendan Matthew, and a very nearly excellent free kick from Charlie Lossaso, neither side were able to convert and the match entered half time at a fair 0-0.

Three minutes into the second half Beaconsfield took the lead.
Losasso split the defence with an excellent ball to Matthew, who controlled it well and calmly slotted it past Jordan Seabright, in the Weymouth goal.

The Rams were unlucky not to build further upon their lead when Omar Vassell’s shot was saved by Seabright in the 51st minute, and on 56 minutes, Reece Yorke should have hit the target after a cross from Vassell found him unmarked.

In response, Weymouth upped their tempo and began to really pressurise the Beaconsfield defence.

The Rams were able to withstand the pressure up until the 88th minute when the advantage was played, following a tackle by Dan Brown, and Weymouth seized the loose ball drilling it home.

Both teams battled on until the final whistle, and it certainly seemed like a late winner was possible for the Rams, especially with Mitford’s final chance of the game, but it wasn’t to be.

However, the Rams have got to be pleased with another point in the bag, and a solid team performance at this level which will surely have pleased manager Gary Meakin.

They now have two games over the Bank Holiday weekend as they entertain Uxbridge on Saturday (kick off 3pm) before they travel to Staines Town on Bank Holiday Monday (kick off 3pm).
