Wycombe Wanderers have made another addition to their squad with the capture of creative forward Alex Samuel on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old has penned a short-term deal until January 20 after impressing the management staff during a trial period, having also caught the eye playing against the Chairboys for Stevenage last season.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth was pleased to have signed the former Newport striker.

He said: “He was fantastic against us at Stevenage.

“I watched him when he was at Swansea and Newport and he is very much in the Mackail-Smith mould.

“He runs and works and never stops running and never stops harrying for the team and ironically looks like Mackail-Smith as well.

“Alex caught the eye in a game. It is a short-term deal because he has to prove himself and he has had a bad injury recently which he had some trouble with Stevenage.

“He has now closed the door on that period but he definitely has an open door here to come and impress and if I can see what he showed against us a couple of times and what I have seen in the past from him, he will be a good acquisition.

“There is plenty to work on with him but it is nice to be able to bring one in to work on and improve and we have a good record of doing that and I hope that Alex is the next one.”
