Wycombe forward Paris Cowan-Hall said the defeat to Charlton was a tough one to take after the Chairboys lost 3-2 at The Valley.

Cowan-Hall came off the bench to score a late goal and set up a tense finish with the Addicks clinging on to all three points.

The jet-heeled forward praised his team-mates for their performance in south London and cut a frustrated figure at the final whistle.

He said: "It is disappointing.

"We did so well. The boys first half were fantastic and we dominated the game and it is a sucker punch to come away with nothing.

"When you are on top you need to capitalise on that and at this level you will be punished if you don't and this game is testament to that.

"We moved the ball well, mixed it and scored as well. There is a learning curve of being solid at the back and not giving away sloppy goals."

Cowan-Hall hadn't featured in the league since the opening day draw against Blackpool and had mixed emotions about his late consolation.

He added: "It was nice to score but it was just horrible that it was basically in vain."

In terms of competition, Cowan-Hall is fighting his way to get back into the starting XI and he is looking forward to the challenge of doing so.

He said: "I played in the midweek game against Northampton and is nice to fit.

"It is the most competitive I have seen the squad ever and it is great for me and it helps push the boys."
