Holmer Green FC finally got the result they have been waiting for this season with a storming 5-0 scoreline over Ardley United on Saturday.
The Greens got off to a confident start with an opening goal in the first few minutes, courtesy of Jamie West, when he intercepted a back pass from the Ardley defence.
Holmer continued to threaten with several close chances before Joffy Cox increased the lead to two in the 19th minute, with an excellent shot in the bottom left hand corner of the United goal.
Entering the half time break, it was clear that Holmer were very much in the driving seat, and despite the recent drought, were finally going to give the fans something to shout about.
The Greens continued the second half with the same assurance that they had displayed in the first, and it wasn’t long before Burrell helped the home side to add to their total, with a spectacular half volley.
The goals kept on coming in the 65th minute when Ryan Parsons rushed to meet Curtis Stone’s weighted corner delivery and firmly drilled it home.
West sealed the deal with goal number five. Their next game is against Wantage on Tuesday (kick off 7.45pm).
