Chalfont St Giles have been crowned champions of the newly formed Berkshire, Chilterns and Mid Bucks Cricket Championship League, this being their first title since 1994.

The team only lost once in a fantastic season which included 13 wins, two draws and two abandonments.

Chalfont started solidly holding title rivals Harpsden to a draw away from home in the first match of the season before being rained off against Ruislip Victoria.

This led to a series of seven convincing wins on the bounce before Harpsden conceded the home fixture meaning the title was in St Giles’ hands.

A loss in the reverse fixture against Ruislip didn’t let the side wobble as they marched onto the title without a further loss.

Highlights during the season included resounding wins home and away over local rivals Ley Hill and Penn & Tylers.

There were a wide range of successes among batsman and bowlers with Alex Hardy, Chris Baumohl, Chris Cross and Dan Heaney all featuring in the leagues highest 20 run scorers.

Cross, Alex Heaney, Liam Cross and Dan Winter also featured in the top 20 wicket takers.

The club have taken great pride in the fact that all but one of the regular first team players came through the colts system.

Meanwhile the second XI finished runners up in Division 2 of the Chiltern and Mid Bucks league and therefore secured promotion to Division 1.

Again there were a plethora of encouraging performances from emerging colts players all led ably by second XI captain Cedric Ayers, who took a league high 42 wickets in 13 matches.

The club look forward to a successful 2019 season as the first eleven hope to push into the Thames Valley League.
