Beaconsfield FC took on Dorchester Town on Saturday in a closely-contested match that resulted in fair 2-2 scoreline.

The game began at high tempo with excellent chances for both teams in the first three minutes, thwarted by first rate goal keeping at either end.

At this intensity a goal in the tenth minute was not such a surprise, and it came courtesy of the home side’s Tony Mendy who confidently got onto the end of a Louis Stead cross.

Responding almost immediately, Dorchester brought the score deservedly level with some excellent footwork skills upfront, leading to a shot that hit the post and then bounced off the back of the diving Nick Hamann into the net.

The Rams came out into the second half with all guns blazing and only ten minutes had passed before Mendy chalked up his second goal of the game, as he met a good cross from Charlie Losasso to put the home side back in front.

As was the nature of the game, again the Magpies asked questions of the home side and despite some excellent Rams defense continued to probe in search of an equaliser.

Unfortunately for Beaconsfield, the visitors were rewarded for their efforts in the 83rd minute, when a direct shot through the defense found the back of their net.

A final score of 2-2 and one point each was a very fair result for both sides who gave everything they had up until the final whistle.

Beaconsfield face FC Romania away in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday, September 22 at 3pm.
