Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth admitted how proud of his side he was after their pulsating 2-2 draw with League One leaders Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Bryn Morris gave the Blues the lead with a wonderful strike midway through the first half to put the Chairboys in control.

However, Pompey skipper Gareth Evans equalised on 56 minutes before Brett Pitman made it 2-1 to the home side with five minutes to go.

Joe Jacobson then grabbed the goal Wanderers deserved, stroking home from the spot on 88 minutes after Fred Onyedinma had been fouled by Christian Burgess.

Ainsworth said: "I am really proud of the boys, no other emotion comes to me at the moment.

"We have come here to give Portsmouth a game. We don't go to places to park the bus. That isn't what we do.

"We go at people. I thought we were well worthy of our lead. They had their chances but we dealt with them well.

"Kicking in front of their home fans in the second half, they meant business and what a ball they put in for their second goal.

"They have real quality but for Wycombe to get a deserved point like this is great.

"I thought the referee had a good game and to give us that penalty was amazingly strong."

Ainsworth praised Jacobson for converting such a pressure penalty after missing his last one against Luton at home.

He added: "JJ showed real steel there at the end. To take that penalty after missing the last one against Luton showed what he is all about."
