Wycombe Phoenix Harriers' women's team won a historic bronze medal after a tremendous weekend at the South of England road relays.
Held at Crystal Palace last weekend, the quartet of Zoe Doyle, Pippa Woolven, Alex Cook and Jenny Roberts held on to get third and win a superb medal.

Matt Whiting of Wycombe Phoenix Harriers, said: "Third place was a tremendous achievement.

"It was 4x4.8km road relay. It was held last Sunday at Crystal Palace and all of the top athletics clubs in the South of England compete in it.

"I don't think the club has ever won a medal before at senior level in a championship event before. To give you an idea of the standard, our men's team which will beat any other clubs locally, came 52nd.

"We were lead off by Zoe Doyle, who has just returned from the World Masters Champs where she won bronze and silver in the 800 and 1500. Pippa Woolven, then ran the fastest leg of the day to take us into the lead. We expected to be well up the field but not in the lead. Alex Cook and Jenny Roberts then had brilliant runs to hang on to a medal."
