Beaconsfield returned from their trip to Dorset with a well-deserved three points on Saturday against Wimbourne Town.

The game began at a good tempo in bright sunshine but neither team put the opposition goalkeeper under any real pressure at the start. The

Rams first real chance of the game saw Tony Mendy nearly take advantage of a poor 25th minute back pass, but his curled effort went just the wrong side of the Wimborne post.

The relatively uneventful first half ended with a 0-0 scoreline.

Inspired by the half-time talk, The Rams came out for the second period on the front foot and nearly took the lead on 49 minutes when Louis Stead sent a fierce shot just over.

One minute later they did go in front as an inch-perfect free kick from captain Wes Daly found the unmarked Jordan Ajanlekoko, who powered his header past the Wimbourne keeper.

From this point, the Rams settled and began to threaten each time they drove forward.

Alex Cathline flashed an effort across the face of the goal on the hour mark and was unlucky not to convert two minutes later after going around the Wimbourne defence.

Mendy also saw a couple of highly presentable chances go begging, one in the 73rd minute bringing a fine reflex save from Wimbourne.

Overall, it was another excellent win for Town who are comfortably mid-table

The solid team performance across the park should act as a good confidence booster before the up-coming Emirates FA Cup game on Saturday against Concord Rangers away (kick off 3pm).
