Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth hailed Joe Jacobson and Adebayo Akinfenwa as the Blues battled to their first win at home in the league this season over Burton Albion.

Jacobson marked his 200th Wanderers appearance with the opening goal from the penalty spot and Akinfenwa notched his 200th career goal with a trademark header to make it 2-0.

Albion pulled one back through Marvin Sordell but the Chairboys held on and Ainsworth was fuil of praise for the goalscoring duo.

He said: "They are two players that epitomise what we are about.

"Joe missed midweek [against Fleetwood]. I left him out because of pace issues against their wingers.

"Joe was great. He came to see me and said he wants to get back in the team and what can he work on and for an experienced player to do that is great.

"I thought he was back to his best in this game. He backed himself and he was fantastic.

"And for the big man to get 200 goals is fantastic. He is some player.

"You don't score 200 goals without being some player and we are lucky to have him.

"He is a real warrior. He has played through so many injuries. He is gutted to have come off as he felt the pain beat him.

"We held on and deserved it for the first half performance. We showed some real resilience was back to what we are and we were back to our best.

"The defensive display was excellent and our first win at home, which is fantastic to say."
