Wycombe Phoenix Harriers star Pippa Woolven has made a stunning comeback having been selected for the UK cross country team at the European Championships in Holland.

Woolven, 25, is now back running at elite level having had time out over the past 18 months due to a health issue.

She came sixth in the Liverpool Cross Challenge in an elite field last Saturday to show she is close to her best.

Pippa's mum, Sally, praised the work of her coaches over the past 14 years in helping her climb the ranks.

She said: "Jan Nash has been Pippa’s coach since the age of 11 and is still very much in touch with her. Matt Whiting has been working with Pippa more recently and is currently more involved on a day to day level with her training. Jan is still very much a part of Pippa’s life and she has been a wonderful influence on Pippa’s life to date. Matt’s recent help has been invaluable too."

The WPH runner will be competing this Sunday.
