Wycombe Phoenix Harriers athlete, Pippa Woolven, 25, played a big part in the GB senior womens’ cross country team winning a silver medal in Tilburg, Holland over the weekend. Having qualified for the team in the final sixth place following an excellent performance at the trials in Liverpool at the beginning of December, Woolven continued her stunning comeback with one of her best performances to date.
She finished the race, run in horrendously muddy and difficult conditions, in ninth place and was the third placed GB athlete to finish.
Turkey’s Yasemin Can took gold for the third successive year after a scintillating finish, while the Netherlands pipped Great Britain for the team title.
