Holmer Green held on for a topsy-turvy 3-3 draw away at Tuffley Rovers in the Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday.

Tuffley set off like hares and scored in the first minute. Holmer regathered themselves and during a good spell for them, Dean Powles won a free kick on the edge of the Tuffley box and Curtis Stone curled in a neat free kick into the top corner for a well deserved equaliser.

Almost from the restart Tuffley attacked and Luke Rhyll was adjudged to have held a Tuffley player and a hotly contested pen was given. Aaron Brown in the Holmer goal has had a good record of saving penalties but had no chance with the blast from the Tuffley striker. Showing great determination though, Holmer were back level just on the half-time mark. From a Holmer corner the ball came out to young Elliott Britton who fired the equaliser from the edge of the box.

Holmer started the second half strongly and a Powles diving header made it 2-3. However midway through the half when looking good for three points, Holmer lost momentum when Dean Munday turned a Tuffley goal attempt into his own net. At 3-3 Tuffley had chances to win but Holmer battled on for the remaining minutes to share the points.

Holmer now face Burnham away in the Allied Counties Cup on Thursday evening (7.45pm) before a home game against Yateley United in the league on Saturday (3pm).
