Penn and Tylers Green manager Gareth Williams is delighted at his side's excellent recent form in the Hellenic League Division One East.

The Blues have won two of their last three league games, including a 2-1 win against Abingdon Town on Saturday with Pritpal Raju bagging a brace.

Previously, the team had beaten Didcot Development 4-2 and played an excellent game in defeat, losing 2-1 to high-flying Holyport in a match that could have gone either way.

Williams said: "The Abingdon game, albeit a great win, was a frustrating game as we should have been out of sight at half-time.

"We allowed Abingdon to get back in it and in the end we just about got the win but it should have been a lot easier.

"Over the festive period, the match which pleased me the most was the Holyport one as they are a very good side. It was an excellent game and I think we deserved a draw.

"We said we would get to Christmas, gel the squad and then try and pick up results and that's what we are doing now."

This weekend, Penn travel to Fairford Town in the Supplementary Cup (kick off 3pm).

Williams admitted he is really looking forward to the game and can use Fairford as a benchmark to see how far his side have come.

He added: "It is always good to test yourselves against a team from the Premier League. We got walloped by Longlevens earlier in the season but we have definitely improved since that game and hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves."

With the team in decent form, Williams issued a warning to the rest of the division, having seen his side plunder seven goals in their last three fixtures.

He said: "We have so much firepower going forward and we have one of the best attacks in the division. We will batter a team soon I am sure of it. And there are plenty of exciting times ahead as we can see where we get to this season and be in a strong position ahead of next term."
