Wycombe defender Sido Jombati explained he is enjoying a long stint at centre half this season, having impressed many observers with a string of excellent displays.

Jombati has partnered skipper Adam El-Abd on numerous occasions this term and the pair have struck up a superb understanding, following on from the end of their promotion-winning campaign.

With El-Abd suspended, Jombati partnered Anthony Stewart on Saturday against Gillingham and explained how much he enjoyed playing alongside both players.

He said: "When you play in different positions, you understand the game more and it is making me a better player.

"Playing alongside Anthony was good and we can be aggressive with a high line and if they get in behind, Anthony can use his pace to get back and it gives less space.

"Adam plays with intelligence and I enjoy playing with both players."

Looking ahead, Wycombe have a tough trip to Peterborough on Saturday and Jombati is wary that Posh won't want to get beaten by Wanderers again as the Blues emerged triumphant 1-0 in November.

He added: "Now they will be on top of their game because they won't want us to do the double over them so we have to be at our best."

Having lost their last three league games, Jombati said the morale hasn't taken a hit at all with manager Gareth Ainsworth and assistant Richard Dobson keeping the spirits up.

He said: "I have been here five years and in those times we have had tricky times and the gaffer and Dobbo have helped us through those tricky times so we will be fine."
