A Princes Risborough teenager has had another successful weekend at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) stadium in Sheffield taking part in the national multi event athletics U15 championships, earning herself a top 25 place in the country for indoor multi events.

Following a successful 60 metre hurdles performance two weeks ago to earn her a personal best of 9.97 seconds, Mary Drewett (13) a student at Aylesbury High School and a member of the Stoke Mandeville based Vale of Aylesbury Athletics Club, scored two personal bests in shot put and long jump this weekend to secure an overall 21st ranking in the UK.

Following a tough 60 metre hurdles race she went on to compete against a strong national field and leapt 4.50 metres in long jump to beat her previous best of 4.35m and in the three kilogram shotput she threw a personal best of 7.58 metres.

Although her high jump best on the day of 1.44cm was four centimetres below her personal best it secured her 555 points which at the end of a long seven hours of competition was followed by the final discipline of 800 metres in which she led a field of eight runners in her heat to clinch a time of two minutes 46 seconds.

Her total score of 2525 points was not only a personal best in itself but earned her 21st place in the national competition.
