It was a day of celebration on Saturday when Beaconsfield played their final league game of 2019 and beat Wimborne 18-14 in the South West 1 East Division.

The first XV finished sixth in their first season after being promoted last year.

Wimborne began strongly pushing the home side back into their 22 with a line out on the 22.

Beaconsfield replied pushing the visitors back with a vengeance determined to gain ground and ending up in the Wimborne 22.

The game was producing some play in the first 25 minutes with outstanding attacks, both teams were using the ball out wide looking for gaps. Lots of tackles were going in looking for sustained possession to give the backs opportunities to run the ball.

Going up to half time with the score at 0-0 showed the intensity of the match from both teams.

Following the break Beaconsfield resumed their attack forcing a scrum in Wimborne's 22, but the visitor's were able to use possession and force their way out only to have Aled Lewis' kick push them back again. Then from a line out on the right Ryan Morgan ran the ball over for the first try behind the posts for Lewis' conversion 7-0.

Wimborne responded forcing their way back up field to Beaconsfield's half, the home team replied with another run down the left but this was halted near the 22. Wimborne then got their first try from a scrum bringing the score to 7-7.

This was turning out to be quite a physical game with not a lot of quarter given from either side. After absorbing an attack from the visitors, Beaconsfield got the ball down field on the right and from a line out Ollie Sloane took the ball well forcing his way the line. Lewis converted for 14-7.

Beaconsfield were now fired up and a move down the left resulted in the backs releasing the full back Alex Enright getting the third try, again with Lewis' conversion 21-7.

With play now in the last quarter and after some intelligent play from the backs number 13 went over to claim the fourth try duly converted for 28-7. Beaconsfield had already passed their previous score against this side.

Aled continued with his penetrating kicks each time pushing Wimborne back into their 22 to absorb more pressure.

Wimborne had one more try to come with a good individual effort from one of their forwards to give them a finishing score of 14 points.

A quality game from both sides to finish the season.
