A young sporting prodigy has won the Junior Masters at Wycombe Heights Golf Club, following in the footsteps of one of his heroes.

Local 11-year-old Billy Wood finished with a score of 2 over par on the tricky par 3 course, picking up his very own green jacket.

Coincidentally one of Billy’s favourite professional golfers Tyrell Hatton, who is from High Wycombe, also won the same competition at the same age with the same score.

The talented youngster has been playing the game since the age of four. Billy also plays for the Berks, Bucks and Oxon U14s squad and even travelled to America last year to take part in the 2018 Youth World Championships.

Billy’s father John said: “Billy is hoping if he keeps up his standard of golf he can follow in the same footsteps.

“After watching another of his golfing heroes Tiger Wood win at Augusta, Billy really wanted to get his hands on his own first green jacket.

“It is Billy’s dream to be a tour player one day and with all his hard work we hope it works out for him.”
