A brilliant century from Johnny Bowers helped Beaconsfield to maintain their 100 per cent record at the top of Thames Valley League Division 2B on Saturday.

Bowers hammered 134 from just 111 balls in Beaconsfield's 29-run win away to Fleet.

He hit four sixes and 18 fours in his knock, which lifted Beaconsfield to 306-8 from their 50 overs.

Good support came from skipper Adam Francis and David Heavyside, both of whom made 49, and Nilesh Odedra with 40.

Fleet had a batting hero of their own in Howard Bywaters, who made an imposing 158, but he lacked support and the hosts were restricted to 277-9 in reply.

Off-spinner Joe Bracey took 3-49, while Heavyside took 1-27 from his ten overs.

This week Beaconsfield are away to Thatcham.

On Monday, Beaconsfield host the Jeremy Suter Six-a-sides, in memory of their young player, who died suddenly at the age of 23 in 2014.
