Tyrrell Hatton made a steady start to the Charles Schwab Challenge, sitting tied 51st after the first round at Colonial CC.
Hatton, 27, shot a 71 to sit seven shots behind leader Tony Finau who shot a six-under 64 to hold the lead, one shot ahead of Jordan Spieth.
The former Great Marlow School student hit one birdie and two bogeys in his round as some of the stellar names in the field struggled on a tough course.
The likes of Justin Rose and Jon Rahm are well down the field and Hatton has a decent opportunity to climb the leaderboard in today's round.
