Beaconsfield made it four wins out of four with a 33-run victory at home to Royal Ascot on Saturday to stay top of Thames Valley League Division 2B.

Put in to bat, Beaconsfield reached 285-9 from their 50 overs on an excellent Wilton Park pitch.

Following useful contributions from skipper Adam Francis (34) and Johnny Bowers (57), the innings was given a real boost by James Rendell, who hit a run-a-ball unbeaten 73.

Despite being tied down by a tight spell from Joe Bracey, who took 1-13 in ten overs, Royal Ascot stayed in the hunt thanks to half-centuries from Jeremy Hare (63) and John Dunnett (54).

In the end Beaconsfield were grateful to Zia Ashraf, who took 4-42 with his off-spin, as they dismissed the visitors for 252 in the 48th over.

This Saturday, Beaconsfield visit Bagshot, hoping to keep up their good run.
