HIGH Wycombe failed in their attempt to become the first side this season to beat Datchet in Division One of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League after a 41-run defeat on Saturday.

The visitors to The Wally Gage Memorial Ground won the coin toss and elected to field first, with Datchet reaching 211 runs all out from 49.1 overs.

Number five Joseph Thomas top-scored with 52 runs from 81 balls, with six boundaries and one maximum hit.

Jonty Jenner, batting at number four, made 47 from 64, and he and Thomas added 60 runs for the fourth wicket.

Number eight Oliver Birts hit 30 runs from 48 balls, with two boundaries and one maximum. He and Thomas pushed the score on from 130-6 to 203-7 in a seventh wicket partnership worth 73 runs.

bowlers with his figures of 3-37 from 10 overs, which included the wickets of both opening batsman, Joe Barrett (7) and Steven Naylor (18).

Conner Haddow claimed the wickets of Thomas and Birts in his 3-49 from 10 overs, while Adam Dobb caught and bowled Jenner in his 2-27 from 10 overs.

The visitors managed 170 runs all out from 42.3 overs in response to suffer a second defeat in five matches this season, which leaves them in fourth position in the league table.

Number six George Russell was the top scorer with 62 runs from 49 balls, with eight boundaries and two maximum hits.

It is his second half-century of the season, taking is total runs tally to over 200 with an average of 29.14.

Matthew Gouldstone, batting at number five, made 39 from 92, and he and Russell added 82 runs for the fifth wicket.

Birts was the chief destroyer for Datchet with his figures of 4-34 from 10 overs, which included the wicket of Russell.

Captain Naylor claimed Gouldstone in his 2-16 from 5.3 overs, while Tom Lambert took the wickets of both opening batsman, Conrad Louth (1) and Eliot Callis (13) in his 2-37 from10 overs.

High Wycombe will attempt to return to winning form when travelling to seventh-placed Horspath this Saturday (11am start).

Burnham are still looking for a first away win in Division Two this season following their nine-wicket defeat at Harefield last weekend.

Opening batsman Nehman Nadeem top-scored with 33 runs from 48 balls, with three boundaries and one maximum hit.

Obaid Sarwar, batting at number six, made 20, Syed Bukhari 15 and Adnan Malik 14.

Matthew Ogden was the pick of the Harefield bowlers with his figures of 3-16 from 10 overs, which included the wickets of Sarwar and Malik.

Lee Tyrrell took the wicket of captain Rizwan Nadeem for a golden duck in his 3-21 from 5.2 overs, while Jordan McLeod claimed 2-15 from five overs.

Harefield lost opening batsman Thomas McLeod for a golden duck, caught by Hamza Afzaal off the bowling of Muhammad Haroon (1-23 from four overs), as their response got off to the worst possible start.

The home side however reached 121-1 from 28 overs to claim a fourth win from five matches this season and move into the two promotion spots in the league table.

Opening batsman Daniel Ogden carried his bat through for an unbeaten 62 runs from 90 balls, with five boundaries,while number three Matthew Ogden hit seven boundaries in his 52 from 77 balls.

The defeat means Burnham have dropped to fourth position in the league table ahead of a visit to The Memorial Ground from county rivals Amersham this Saturday (11.30am).

Chesham have moved up to fifth position in the table after a 19-run win against Thame Town at The Meadow on Saturday.

Thame won the coin toss and elected to field first, with Chesham reaching 101 runs all out from 36.3 overs.

Number eight Nouman Aslam top-scored with 19 runs from 38 balls, but only Jason Rance and Andy Goddard (both 15) could also reach double figures.

Faisal Ali was the best of the Thame bowlers with his figures of 3-19 from eight overs, which included the wickets of Jason Rance and captain Matthew Rance (6).

Johannes Van Dyk took the wicket of Mark Eteen for a third ball duck in his 3-21 from 6.3 overs, while Andrew Russell claimed 2-23 from eight overs.

The visitors managed 82 runs all out from 331.1 overs in response to suffer a third defeat in five matches this season, which sees them stand in seventh position in the table.

Number seven Hassam Mushtaq top-scored with 37 runs from 75 balls, with four boundaries. Callum Russel, batting at number four, was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 11 from 12 balls.

Matthew Warner was the destroyer-in-chief for Chesham with his figures of 4-12 from seven overs, which included the wicket of captain and opening batsman Michael Beard for a golden duck.

Matthew Rance took Thomas Bamford for a second ball duck in his 3012 from eight overs.

Cookham Dean returned to winning form following their 78-run victory at bottom side and winless Dinton last weekend.

The home side won the toss and elected to first first at Oxford Road, with Cookham reaching 118 runs all out from 35.1 overs.

Opening batsman Ben Millar (15) and Sohil Mangat (29) put on 61 runs for the first wicket, but they were the only batsman to reach double figures in the innings.

Annis Mehrban was the best of the Dinton bowlers with his figures of 7-25 from 10 overs, which included the wickets of Millar, Mangat and Yasir Qureshi for a duck.

Muhaib Ur-Rehman claimed the wickets of both Tom Fray and Scott Harris for zero in his 2-21 from 10 overs.

Dinton were skittled for just 40 runs from 12.4 overs in response to suffer a fifth straight defeat at the start to the new season.

Number seven Jawad Ali (13) and captain Kelvin Burrows (12), batting at number four, were the only batsman to reach double figures.

Wasim Ahmed led the Cookham bowling attack with his figures of 7-19 from 6.4 overs, which included four batsman who failed to trouble the scorers.

It is the first time this season he has taken a five-wicket-haul and takes his average to 11.60.
