Wycombe forward Alex Samuel admitted he is raring to go and believes the club will continue to surprise many teams in League One next season.

Samuel had a hugely impressive debut season at Adams Park last time around with his fantastic displays up top and he hopes to kick on when the season begins on August 3.

He said: “I am really looking forward to getting back out there.

“I had a good break and have rested my legs so I am ready to kick on and am excited for it.

“Me and my wife went to Bali which was lovely and it was nice to get in the sun for a bit and it has been a great summer but I feel ready to start again.”

The fixtures were released on Thursday with relegated Bolton Wanderers up first for the Blues.

Samuel explained that a couple of games have really caught his eye and he firmly believes that the Chairboys can make their mark on League One yet again.

He added: “It is going to be a great atmosphere at home to kick off another incredible League One season again and I am really looking forward to that game.

“There are some rivalries for us in this division and I am really looking forward to the Sunderland game especially after what happened here last year and we are really looking forward to kicking on and playing those games.

“I really think we can pull off a few more surprises next season. We have a really good nucleus of players here and to be fair I am not worried at all about budgets.

“We proved to everyone that we can do it with last season and we are going to do it again and I have no doubt that we will surprise a few people this year.”

In terms of personal targets, Samuel admitted that there was one area in particular he wanted to improve on.

He said: “I would love to be more prolific in my goalscoring and I just want to enjoy my football like last season and that is where the creativity comes and hopefully I can have the same again next season.”
