FRIETH built on their first success this season last weekend with a convincing rain-swept eight-wicket victory against Braywood 2s in the Chiltern League Premiership Two.

In the field first, excellent partnership bowling saw the 10 wickets shared between all of the

bowlers, with Ramzan Ghafoor being the pick of the attack with his figures of 4-18.

Braywood were bowled out in the 38th over for 96 runs.

With the willow in hand, Frieth set about their task in determined fashion and scored 97 runs for the loss of just two wickets in 20 overs.

Ghafoor scored his highest total of the season, carrying his bat with 52 not out.

The victory puts Frieth in eighth position in the league and just 17 points behind fourth place.

  • AFTER a couple of frustrating batting plays, the second team won an important toss that enabled them to put the bowlers in charge.

In a rain-affected first innings, which saw the match ultimately shortened to a 30 overs contest, the home bowlers found their line and length early on and restricted Lace Green 2s to 103-3.

In reply, Frieth put their recent batting woes behind them and, led by an impressive 41 by opening Owais Ali, stormed to their target with eight overs to spare.

  • HOT on the heels of a successful World Cup Family Day, Frieth laid on bacon sandwiches for their junior parents on Fathers Day.

Using the newly-purchased barbecue, the club was able to provide well-earned breakfast sandwiches for anyone with an appetite who had braved the rain to support the junior section.

Coaching continues until Sunday 21st July and boys and girls are invited to attend between 10.30am and 12pm. Sessions coast £5 per week or £2 each time for junior members.

  • TO CELEBRATE the height of summer, Frieth are hosting Marlow Rebellions at their ground in Parmoor for a T20 match tonight (Friday, 6pm).

As well of the cricket, there will be a barbecue with refreshments for sale and other fundraising activities.

All of the funds raised will go towards the Frieth Cricket Club new pavilion fund.

Players of all abilities and experience are welcome to attend.
