Wycombe club captain Matt Bloomfield admitted he is relishing yet another season in a Wanderers shirt as Wycombe prepare for another crack at League One.

Bloomfield is a Wycombe legend, having made well over 500 appearances for the Chairboys since joining in 2003 and explained how he is looking forward to this season as much as his very first.

Speaking at the kit launch at Dormeo on Friday, Bloomfield said: "I am genuinely still as excited as the first pre-season.

"The boys have seen that I have come back in as good shape as ever and I have worked hard over the summer.

"I love the gym and love exercise and I love keeping in good shape and I love my job.

"I love my football and I am excited to be back. I do every session and I feel good and the longer that continues, the better as I love what I do and I am very pleased with that."

There have been exits over the summer with the likes of Paris Cowan-Hall and Michael Harriman leaving the club.

However, the Blues have been boosted by the news that key trio Adebayo Akinfenwa, Scott Kashket and Dominic Gape have all signed new deals.

Bloomfield said: "It is always sad and disappointing when you lose friends because the nature of the beast is that you make friends and they move on.

"The turnover is quick and high and that happens. The boost of the big man signing and Scotty signing and Gapey last week is brilliant.

"I was in constant contact with Gapey over the summer, nudging him towards that pen and that contract.

"I am glad he has stayed and he is obviously a huge player for us, as is Bayo and Scotty. Scotty has so much potential that he can fulfil.

"Everyone knows what the big man can bring and his influence on and off the pitch is massive and we will still the see the best of Gapey so I am really pleased all three are staying and look forward to new signings coming through the door."
