AN ELECTRIFYING and nail-biting finish kept supporters on the edge of their seats as Marlow took on Hazells in the quarter-final of the Bucks Cup at Pound Lane on Sunday.

Marlow

dominated events early on but Hazells kept pace with them. Brian Jones, Nobby Anson and Dave Turner were carving out a tidy lead.

Pat Ryan, Stewart Rump and Dave White were 4-3 up after seven ends and 12-9 ahead into the 15th, but they only scored once more in the last four ends.

Peter Burgess, Paul Simmons and Andy Savin were behind as the game took shape but stayed with it and got within two shots of their opponents, losing 15-13.

The rink Jones skipped was being hauled back narrowly, eventually losing 23-22, and the trio White led faded at the end for a 15-11 defeat.

But, all the time, the rink of Alan Steptoe, Trevor Day and Bob Broad were leading the charge for

Marlow

with a dominant display. Everyone focused on the last end of the rink as the other three finished.

It was an exciting end as Broad held his nerve to close out their match with a vital 20-10 win to give the hosts overall victory 66-63.

The club now await their next opponents in the semi-final on Sunday 4th August.
