Wycombe Wanderers have signed Queens Park Rangers winger Paul Smyth on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old joins Gareth Ainsworth’s men after spending the second-half of last season on loan at Accrington Stanley, where he scored three goals in 16 games in all competitions.

He has played 19 matches and has scored twice for Rangers since signing from Linfield in July 2017.

Upon joining, Smyth said: “The manager said that he’s going to try and help me get minutes and help me develop as a player and that’s one of the reasons why I came to the club.

“I have enjoyed my first day today and hopefully I’ll have many more”.

Ainsworth then added: “He’s quick, he can make things happen and he’s got a good eye for goal, so I know he’ll be a really exciting addition to our frontline and our fans will love watching him play.

“Our excellent relationship with QPR is no secret and I’d like to thank Mark Warburton and everyone else who’s helped to make this happen.

“We have a proud history of bringing in young talent on loan, nurturing them on and off the pitch, and helping to develop their careers, and I hope Paul is another success story over the next 10 months.”

Smyth will wear the number 17 shirt.
