Wycombe Wanderers defender Anthony Stewart admitted he is feeling good ahead of the new season as the Blues continue their pre-season preparations.
Stewart has endured a frustrating couple of campaigns with injuries but is very happy with how hit fitness is at the moment.
He said: "I am feeling good and it is probably the best I have felt in a while. It is good to get fitness under the belt and some minutes.
"Hopefully I can continue like this and be ready for the first game of the season.
"My aim every season is to stay as fit as I can and the rest will take care of itself."
Stewart has plenty of competition at centre half with the likes of Adam El-Abd and Sido Jombati impressive last season but admitted he is relishing nailing down a regular starting place.
He added: "Competition is always healthy and we push each other on. Positions are there to be taken."
Overall, the Blues were very impressive against a strong Brentford side and Stewart said: "We were expecting not to see much of the ball and the boys worked hard and they limited Brentford. Rocky [Ryan Allsop] had very little to do in goal.
"We like to win in pre-season as well. It is mainly about fitness but getting that winning mentality is always good."
