Wycombe Wanderers have completed a hat-trick of new arrivals on Monday afternoon, with Giles Phillips signing a season-long loan deal from Queens Park Rangers.

The central defender follows Jacob Gardiner-Smith and Jack Grimmer in joining the Chairboys ahead of the 2019/20 League 1 season, having also caught the eye as a trialist during pre-season.

Phillips, who hails from Chicago, arrived at QPR in 2017 and linked up with the Blues for the friendlies with Woking and Brentford, scoring a bullet header in the 3-2 win over the non-league side.

Chairboys manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Giles is another young talent on QPR’s books who we strongly believe will improve our squad, and I’ve been really impressed by what I’ve seen from him so far.

“He’s got an excellent attitude and plenty of ability on the ball, as well as being a strong, commanding presence in the centre of defence.

“Once again I’d like to thank QPR for trusting us with another of their young talents. We saw Paul Smyth make an outstanding first impression on Saturday and now Giles comes into a club where he’ll fit really well into our culture and leave here a better player than when he joined, I’m sure of it.”

The 22-year-old will wear squad number 16.
