FLACKWELL Heath conceded a goal in the final minute of normal time to open their campaign in the Hellenic Premier Division with a 2-1 defeat to Lydney Town on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

A goal from Lewis Thompson gave Lydney a narrow lead heading into the break at Wilks Park. The Heathens equalised through Joshua Baines three minutes before the final whistle, but the visitors secured the points when Harry Williams netted in the final seconds.

Flackwell welcome Holmer Green to Wilks Park in an all-Bucks derby match on Tuesday (7.45pm), before a trip to Oxhey Jets from the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup this Saturday (3pm).

Burnham made a disappointing return to the Premier Division after a 3-0 defeat to Fairford Town.

Holmer Green brought up the curtain in their new campaign with an entertaining 3-3 draw at home to Royal Wootton Bassett Town.

A goal from Callum McGhee-Parsons gave Wootton Bassett the lead at Watchet Lane, but the home side took the advantage into the break thanks to an Olly Lynch penalty and a Ryan Parsons effort.

Holmer further extended their lead through Alex Rice in the second half, but the visitors took a point back to Wiltshire with goals from McGhee-Parsons and Bradley Pagliaroli.

Risborough Rangers got the new season in Division One East under way with a 2-1 home win against Abingdon United.

Brian Haule bagged a first-half brace for Rangers, the first goal from the penalty spot, before Abingdon pulled one back through Ben Crooks in the second period.

Risborough Rangers make the trip to Milton United this Saturday (3pm).

Penn & Tylers Green get the new season under way with a visit to Holloways Park from Wokingham & Emmbrook in round one of the Hellenic Challenge Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm), before hosting Kidlington Development in Division One East this Saturday (3pm).

The new Evo-Stick League Premier South season begins this Saturday with Chesham United hosting Salisbury and Beaconsfield Town making the journey to Dorchester Town (both 3pm).
